John Dee was one of the key figures of the sixteenth century Renaissance in England and astrologer to Elizabeth I. The Diaries presented here are a combination of Dee’s private journals and spirit diaries compiled from manuscripts on the Bodleian Library and the British Museum. and include material from 1577-1601 with extra material from 1547-54 and 1607. Dee’s visit to the Emperor Rudolph II in 1584 is included, but missing from this book, as from all other published material on or by Dee, is any detail of his presumed astrological work for Elizabeth.
